Water and Wastewater Operator

MRAEL are currently seeking Water and Wastewater Operator for a 6 month contract with the possibility of an extension.

Our Client, Sapsorb Water Services is a proudly ISO 9001:2015 certified Australian-owned and operated company with specialization in Operation support, Commissioning, Service and building technical documentation for local government and OEMs in NSW and QLD.

This is a 6 month contract on-site role for a Water and Wastewater Operator with Sapsorb Water Services, located in Carmilla and servicing Saint Lawrence. The Water Treatment Operator will be responsible for plant operations, water treatment, wastewater treatment, process control, and pump station management on a day-to-day basis.

Role Description

 Duties are but not limited to:

• Ensuring that water entering plant is treated to meet regulatory standards
• Regulate water flow through stages of treatment
• Using proper methods to treat water, monitor plant for unclean water, and correct any problems as soon as possible
• Ensuring the proper execution of water treatment processes while complying with all safety requirements
• Working with a range of treatment technologies, from conventional to UF systems
• Operate specialised manual and computerised equipment to control water flow
• Use appropriate chemicals to treat water and wastewater
• Take samples and monitor water quality
• Keep accurate records of all treatments and readings taken
• Carry out routine maintenance on treatment equipment and report faults to engineers
• Water samples are transported to mackay every Wednesday

• 11 days on, 3 Days off Roster (9 x eight-hour days and 2 x Five-hour days) Saturday and Sunday.
• $45.00 per hour – Level 6 Local Government Industry Award 2010 

What we are looking for?

• Plant Operations and Process Control skills
• Certificate III in Water Operations or extensive experience in water and wastewater treatment operations
• White Card
• Minimum of Queensland Class C manual driver’s license
• Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment knowledge
• Sample collection and onsite lab testing
• Pump Station management experience
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
