The management of the South Australia/Northern Territory MTA’s group training organisation (GTO) set a goal at the start of 2021 to attract an increased number of quality automotive apprentices. Since January this year, the organisation has achieved an average intake of 20 apprentices per month, hosting these driven young people to automotive businesses across South Australia.

The MTA’s general manager apprentice employment services, Jason Polgreen said, “It was great to see another ten new starters this week across a range of automotive trades.

“Demand is high, particularly from the crash repair sector and we continue to work with industry, government, schools and NGOs to find good applicants who are looking for a rewarding career.

“I’m also pleased to report that the retention rate of new MTA apprentices this financial year is currently sitting above 90 per cent.

“To keep this retention rate up, I ask that our current host employers work with us to support apprentices in their journey with whatever life throws at them both in and out of the workplace. We have a range of support services available that our field officers and administration team use regularly to help keep our apprentices on track and productive in the workplace.

“If you are thinking about taking on an automotive apprentice for the first time and are located in South Australia, give me a call on 8241 0522 to discuss how our GTO can help you future proof your business.”
