Certificate Description:  Working as a Metal Machinist you will use a variety of workshop machines to produce components made from metal (ferrous and non-ferrous) and non-metal materials to precision tolerance specifications. Work may include preparing materials, marking out, setting up machines, preparing tools and fixtures, undertaking machining operation and precision measurement. Machining operations may include drilling, reaming, turning, milling, grinding, boring and slotting operations to precision tolerances. Note: Skills development should be undertaken through an Australian Apprenticeship arrangement.
