Looking to begin your career in the fitness industry? The Certificate III in Fitness (SIS30315) is the minimum qualification required to commence working as a qualified Gym Instructor.

Duration and Study Load:

Face-to-Face (16 weeks of classes, with a total time of up to 9 months):

  • Full-time: Attendance 2 days per week
  • Part-time: Attendance 2 nights per week (6.15pm – 9.45pm), one day over the weekend
  • 32 hours practical placement

Online:

  • 12 months to complete
  • 32 hours practical placement

Entry Requirements:

First aid is a unit within the Certificate III in Fitness (SIS30315). This online course does not include first aid. Students studying online in Victoria can arrange to complete the first aid unit at AFA (at an additional cost is $165).

Alternatively, students can complete the first aid unit with another provider and supply a copy of the qualification to AFA to obtain a ‘credit’ for the unit. The required unit is HLTAID003 Provide first aid.
