Meet Amir – An Iranian Apprentice TV Interview on 9 News

Amir Ansari fled Iran and found refuge in Australia. Now a qualified tradie, he’s helping others like him secure apprenticeships and build new lives.

His inspiring journey was featured on 9 News in Melbourne on March 16, 2024. Today, Amir is paying it forward—encouraging other non-English-speaking arrivals to learn a trade and calling on employers to give them a fair go.

Amir arrived in Melbourne in 2011 at the age of 26, determined to continue his career as an electrician—a trade he began at just 13 years old in Iran. There, vocational training starts early, and by 20, Amir had already launched his own business.

But when he arrived in Australia, his qualifications weren’t recognised. He had to start over, repeating his apprenticeship without formal support, local accreditation, or professional connections. It was a tough road.

That changed in 2018 when he connected with Mas National. With their guidance, Amir was able to restart his career through an Australian electrical apprenticeship. Mas National helped him navigate the process and supported him every step of the way.

If you’ve ever thought about starting a trade, let Amir’s journey inspire you and register now for information.
