The Apprentice Drainlayer assists qualified Drainlayers and civil construction teams in the installation, repair and maintenance of underground drainage systems. The role provides practical on-the-job training while working towards a drainlaying qualification and developing the skills necessary to become a competent and certified Drainlayer. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Assist with the installation of stormwater, wastewater, sewer and subsoil drainage systems. 
• Help prepare trenches, bedding and backfill materials. 
• Assist with laying, joining and testing drainage pipes. 
• Support installation of manholes, catchpits, sumps and culverts. 
• Assist with general civil construction and labouring duties. 
• Maintain clean and organised work areas. 
• Participate in apprenticeship training and assessments. 

Health and Safety 

• Follow company health, safety and environmental procedures. 
• Attend toolbox meetings and safety briefings. 
• Wear required PPE at all times. 
• Report hazards, incidents and near misses. 

Skills and Experience 

• Strong willingness to learn. 
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking. 
• Good communication and teamwork skills. 
• Physically fit and capable of outdoor work. 

Desirable Qualifications 

• Full Class 1 Driver Licence. 
• Site Safe Passport. 
• First Aid Certificate. 
• WTR endorsement.
