Engineering Draftsperson – Certificate IV Traineeship – Bellerive

An exciting opportunity exists for a Trainee Draftsperson to join a small, Eastern Shore team in Hobart, work closely with the Director and other team members to prepare electrical, fire, and hydraulic (plumbing) drawings across a diverse range of projects.

This traineeship is ideal for someone with an interest in drafting and technical documentation who is seeking hands‑on experience, professional mentoring, and a genuine pathway into a long‑term ongoing role.

About the Traineeship

You will be employed by Work & Training for the duration of your training contract and supported throughout your development.

About the Role

Your responsibilities and learning opportunities will include:

  • Preparing detailed electrical, fire, and hydraulic (plumbing) drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Working from project objectives, engineering specifications and design information.
  • Ensuring drawings comply with ISO‑9001 standards when required.
  • Building professional relationships with customers.
  • Maintaining CAD libraries.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Following workplace policies and procedures.

About You

We are ideally seeking someone with AutoCAD experience or exposure to a similar drafting program. However, applicants with a strong aptitude for learning new software are strongly encouraged to apply — training and support will be provided.

  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
