AGA is seeking expressions of interest from motivated plumbing apprentices at all year levels who are looking to commence, recommence, or continue a plumbing apprenticeship across South East Melbourne and Gippsland. As a Group Training Organisation, AGA employs apprentices and places them with suitable host employers, while supporting wages, training coordination, compliance, mentoring, and ongoing apprenticeship progress.

About the Opportunity:

This opportunity is suited to applicants who are ready to build a career in plumbing while gaining hands-on experience with local host employers. Successful applicants may be employed by AGA and placed with a plumbing host employer that can provide meaningful on-the-job training, supervision, and exposure to residential, commercial, maintenance, or civil plumbing work.

Who should register their interest:

  • 1st year apprentices seeking to start or recommence their trade pathway
  • 2nd year apprentices looking to continue their training with a suitable employer
  • 3rd year apprentices wanting to progress towards completion
  • 4th year apprentices seeking final-year placement or completion opportunities
  • Out-of-trade apprentices who are ready to return to employment and training

Locations:

Opportunities may be available across South East Melbourne and Gippsland, including surrounding suburbs, towns, and regional areas. Applicants should indicate their preferred work locations and their ability to travel for work or training where required.

Trade Areas of Interest:

Please list your plumbing apprenticeship pathway or area of interest, such as general plumbing, drainage, roofing, gas fitting, mechanical services, maintenance plumbing, civil plumbing, or another related plumbing stream.

Employment Arrangement:

Applicants who progress may be employed by AGA as the legal employer and placed with a host employer for day-to-day work and training. AGA supports the apprenticeship by managing employment requirements and providing ongoing contact to help apprentices stay on track throughout their training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend work with the plumbing host employer as rostered and follow workplace directions
  • Assist with plumbing installation, maintenance, repair, and preparation tasks under supervision
  • Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and correctly
  • Attend trade school or formal plumbing training as required
  • Maintain good communication with AGA, the host employer, and training provider
  • Work towards successful completion of plumbing apprenticeship requirements

What we are looking for:

  • A genuine interest in plumbing and learning practical trade skills
  •  Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude on site
  • Commitment to workplace safety, including following instructions and using PPE correctly
  • Willingness to attend trade school and complete plumbing apprenticeship requirements
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate respectfully with supervisors, tradespeople, and customers
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work in different environments, including indoor, outdoor, residential, commercial, or civil sites
