Work & Training, in partnership with Devonport City Council, is looking for a motivated apprentice to join their team and complete a Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology (AUR31220).

This is your chance to earn while you learn, gain a nationally recognised qualification, and work on a wide range of vehicles, small plant & heavy machinery used every day across the local community.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of the Council’s workshop team, you’ll learn how to:

• ✅ Service, maintain and repair vehicles and heavy equipment
• ✅ Diagnose faults and solve mechanical problems
• ✅ Use industry-standard tools, equipment and technology
• ✅ Inspect and test machinery to ensure it is operating safely
• ✅ Work alongside experienced mechanics and tradespeople
• ✅ Build practical skills that can set you up for a long-term career

No two days will be the same, and you’ll gain experience working on a diverse fleet of vehicles, mobile plant and equipment.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to know everything already. We’re looking for someone who is:

• 🔧 Reliable, motivated and safety-focused
• 🔧 Ready to build a successful trade career

Essential Requirements

• Current Tasmanian driver’s licence
• Good literacy, numeracy and digital skills
• Ability to follow safety procedures and workplace instructions
• Comfortable working around oils, grease, petrol and diesel

Bonus Points If You Have

• Completed Year 12 or relevant VET studies
• Experience using hand tools
• First Aid Certificate
• White Card
