Skill Hire, in partnership with our valued host employer, is seeking Surface Preparation & Coatings Apprentices (2nd, 3rd & 4th Year) to join a major construction project in Karratha, Western Australia.

This is an outstanding opportunity to continue your industrial painting, blasting, and coating apprenticeship on one of Australia’s largest resource and construction projects.

About the Role:

  • Position: Surface Preparation & Coatings Apprentice (2nd–4th Year)
  • Location: Karratha, WA (FIFO from Perth or local residents)
  • Roster: 20 days on, 8 days off (20:8)
  • Accommodation: The Ranges Village (A newly constructed, state of the art camp facility)

Work alongside experienced tradespeople on a large-scale industrial construction site, gaining hands-on experience in:

  • Abrasive blasting
  • Industrial painting and protective coatings
  • Surface preparation techniques
  • Corrosion control on heavy industrial infrastructure

Note: TAFE attendance in Perth is required as part of your apprenticeship.

Essential Criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a Surface Preparation & Coatings Apprenticeship (2nd–4th Year)
  • Current WA Driver’s Licence
  • Construction White Card
  • Working Safely at Heights & Confined Spaces (Preferred)
  • Ability to meet all pre-employment medicals and assessments
  • A strong commitment to learning and being part of a supportive team

  • A proactive, safety-conscious attitude
  • Team player with good communication skills
