Meet Zoe – A Butcher Apprentice
Meet Zoe, a first-year apprentice with HTN, proudly working with AJ Bush and Sons. Growing up in the Hunter Valley and inspired by a love for paddock-to-plate food, Zoe always dreamed of becoming a butcher. Despite challenges breaking into a male-dominated industry, her determination led her to Sydney, where she found support from friends, family, HTN—and a chance to prove herself.
Zoe’s journey highlights the importance of backing yourself and finding the right support. She credits HTN, especially her mentor Rob, for helping her get started and stay motivated. Zoe now works hands-on in the industry, learning every day, gaining confidence with her skills, and earning respect from colleagues and customers alike.
Her story shows that gender is no barrier when you’re passionate, capable, and committed. Zoe’s long-term plan? Return to the Hunter Valley, open her own shop, and support other aspiring female butchers.
